Gyeongju, South Korea,REDAKSI17.COM — Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto described the atmosphere at the 2025 APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting as positive and constructive, emphasizing the importance of global cooperation and stability to ensure sustainable economic recovery amid ongoing geopolitical and economic turbulence.
Speaking after his bilateral meeting with New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon on the sidelines of the summit on Friday (October 31), Prabowo expressed optimism about the tone of discussions among world leaders.
“Alhamdulillah, I met President Trump of the United States and President Xi Jinping. From what I observed, the atmosphere was positive — and that’s what we hope for, because it will greatly influence global stability. The world economy depends heavily on calm and peace,” Prabowo said.
The President noted that the world is currently facing major challenges — including trade wars, geopolitical tensions, and ongoing conflicts in several regions. He stressed that diplomatic initiatives aimed at easing tensions and fostering mutual trust are essential to maintaining global economic stability.
“The world is full of uncertainty right now. There are trade wars, heightened geopolitical risks, and numerous conflicts. We are working to cool things down — to de-escalate tensions,” Prabowo said.
During his bilateral talks with Luxon, Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s intention to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and education, including plans to send more Indonesian students to study medicine and dentistry in New Zealand.
Both leaders also discussed the possibility of deploying English-language instructors from New Zealand to Indonesia to expand language training opportunities for Indonesians preparing to work abroad.
