BANDA ACEH,REDAKSI17.COM — President Prabowo Subianto has instructed all ministries and government agencies to maintain an uninterrupted work schedule in managing the disaster response in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra until the lives of affected communities are fully restored.
This directive was conveyed by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Pratikno during a press conference in Banda Aceh on Thursday.
“Everyone must continue working non-stop, mobilizing national resources to accelerate the disaster response in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra until people’s lives and livelihoods are recovered and improved,” stated Pratikno.
Pratikno explained that to date, the central government, together with the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the National Police (Polri), and local governments, have been working tirelessly to expedite emergency response and the transition to recovery in the affected areas.
“Everyone is working together on the ground to restore Sumatra. Our focus is clear: public safety, fulfilling basic needs, and accelerating recovery,” he said.
Thanks to these intensive efforts, Pratikno added, 12 out of the total 52 affected regencies and cities in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra have now entered the transition phase from emergency response to recovery. However, 10 regencies in Aceh Province are extending their emergency response status.
He clarified that this extension ensures all emergency response measures can be carried out optimally and that the areas are genuinely prepared to enter the post-disaster recovery phase.
“This step is taken to ensure all emergency needs of residents are fully met while preparing the areas to move into the recovery stage,” he explained.
Regarding the recovery process, Pratikno noted that the government is accelerating the construction of temporary and permanent housing for affected residents. Additionally, aid distribution continues via land, air, and sea routes, including to areas still isolated due to damaged infrastructure.
“Various efforts are ongoing, both by land and air, to reach villages whose access remains cut off,” he emphasized.
Amid the Christmas 2025 season, Pratikno called on all segments of the nation to continue working together to help disaster-affected communities, enabling a faster and more targeted recovery process.
“I call on all Indonesians to continue working in mutual cooperation to assist our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster,” he concluded.
