Prabowo Shares How Indonesia’s Non-Aligned Strength Is Recognized by the World

JAKARTA,REDAKSI17.COM– President Prabowo Subianto has affirmed that Indonesia’s consistent pursuit of a free, active, and non-aligned foreign policy has earned the country recognition and trust from nations around the world. He described this principle as an important legacy of the nation’s founders that continues to be upheld to this day.

“We are grateful that our country has inherited a legacy from our founding fathers. That legacy is a non-aligned foreign policy—meaning we do not wish to join any military blocs or pacts,” Prabowo said during a meeting with business leaders from the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday (July 31).

This neutral stance, Prabowo said, has led other nations to view Indonesia as a country with no interest in interfering in the internal affairs of other states. As an illustration, he recounted his experience during a visit to Seoul, South Korea.

Prabowo said that during the meeting, South Korean President Lee Jae Myung had asked whether he would be willing to visit North Korea as an effort to open channels for dialogue.

“During my last visit to Seoul, the President asked me, ‘Could you visit North Korea to open some kind of dialogue?’ I replied, ‘I would be honored and willing, if Your Excellency requests me to go to North Korea, I will go,’” he said.

Prabowo noted that this request reflects international trust in Indonesia’s position, which has consistently remained impartial in conflicts and geopolitical rivalries.

“Indonesia is seen as having no interest in interfering in any country’s domestic affairs. That is what we firmly uphold,” he said.

This global trust in Indonesia, Prabowo continued, aligns with the foreign policy direction he has championed since the beginning of his administration—namely, building good relations with all countries, especially neighboring nations.

“I have also declared from the start of my term that Indonesia’s foreign policy now is to be a good neighbor,” he said.

He added that the government will continue to prioritize dialogue and reconciliation in building bilateral relations.

“I am trying to improve relations with all our neighbors. I am working toward reconciliation. I am striving to take a conciliatory approach,” Prabowo concluded.
